Taking an IELTS exam creates a huge impact on your educational opportunities, career success, and even for your work visas. If you are planning to settle or work in foreign countries like New Zealand, Australia, Canada, or the U.S., then it is highly essential to possess IELTS scores.

IELTS exam has been split up into two types namely Academic and General Training. The feature of both academic and general training differs a lot. What do IELTS examiners look at?

The examiners of the IELTS exams look at three important aspects namely the structure, vocabulary, and fluency. The structure of the applicant’s written test must come up with at least three paragraphs. Next, the vocabulary of the applicant must include high-specific words that oppose using simpler ones. The fluency must include the commonly used phrases in the written test.

IELTS Speaking Section

The speaking section of the IELTS includes three parts and takes place around 11 to 14 minutes. Every applicant must start a conversation with the single examiner and the conversation will be recorded.

IELTS Listening Section

The listening section of the IELTS has been divided into four parts. First, the applicant has to listen to the audio samples that comprise different topics. Then, the applicant has to answer the relevant questions based on what the applicant has heard.

The same four criteria have been followed to grade both the test versions that ensure whether the English language skill in the applicant is adequate or not.

Added, the applicants’ listening and speaking abilities will be assessed based on the levels A1 and B1 of the CEFR. There are two levels available in IELTS Life Skills Test. They are,

A1 Level – An applicant must take this test to get evaluated with their English speaking and listening skills. Added, if you are applying a visa for your family, spouse, or partner from UK visas or migration, the A1 level is a must. The test sums up to around 16 to 18 minutes

B1 Level – The applicant can take a B1 level exam to test their English speaking and listening skills. Mainly, the applicants who wish to apply for citizenship/residence, have to come up scoring well in the B1 Level exams. The band score is 4.0 for the B1 level of CEFR.
